| So, since i have put my transmission in, i have never been sure that it is functioning the way it should. Here are the issues.
1. Overdrive only exists in top gear, and i appear to have 2, on that kicks in at about 70mph and one at 85ish. normal?
2. Since all the other gears lack an overdrive, when driving around in any other gear, when i let my foot off the pedal the transmission wont hold the rpm and it drops down to about idle, that is unless i keep my foot in it. normal? the only time the transmission holds the rpm is in OD.
3. 1st gear only engages at about 3400rpm, meaning i am up at just over 20mph when it shifts into 2nd. Normal?
4. unless the car has been warming up for a good while, the transmission refuses to shift.. normal? and any reason as to why you think this might be.
5. Whenever i go WOT in 1st gear, the engine spools to about 5400rpm with good power then the transmission seems to give out and the engine revs up as if were not under load. After this happens, the transmission will not shift back into 1st gear or go into overdrive in top gear.
I think #5 may also have a lot to do with a bad torque converter which i hope to replace soon.
Thanks in advance for all the help, i am just trying to get the beast a little more streetable and less gas guzzling.
Also, if anyone owns an automatic in the eastside/seattle area, i was wondering if you would like to meet up so i can possibly go for a ride and see how a real transmission is supposed to act in these cars. Thanks again
